The Problem
What is stress? Am I stressed?
Most people feel stress on a day-to-day basis. In fact the body needs stress at
some levels and it is a perfectly natural feeling.
It is an emotion similar to crying or laughing and for most people it is
controllable and not dangerous. The dangers however are when you are unable to
recover from short periods of stress and instead of returning to your natural
stress free state, you spiral out of control.
Another danger is that you become used to very high stress levels and are
unaware of it, this can cause damage to your body, which will eventually break
down. The following is a list of some symptoms of stress and everyone will find
something that they recognise which is quite normal, however, check the list -
you may be surprised!
Dry mouth Pounding heart / palpitations Loss of sense of
humour Being irritable Headaches Odd Aches & Pains Tearfulness Forgetfulness Difficulty in sleeping
