What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness whereby deep-rooted habits and psychological disturbances may be accessed and an inner will of strength and resources utilised to create new beliefs. The altered state occurring under hypnosis can be likened to a state of deep meditation, where the recuperative abilities of the psyche are allowed to flow more freely. Hypnosis is a waking state; the hypnotised person remains in full control of his or her behavior, and usually is able to recall the whole experience. Hypnotherapy has been used to treat addictions, relieve stress and help individuals develop a more positive attitude in general.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is concerned primarily with identifying the ways in which we have been programmed to think, act, feel and learning how to free ourselves from unwanted limiting habits and beliefs.

What are the sorts of problems that Hypnotherapy can help with?

Weight Loss, Bulimia, Bed Wetting, Bereavement, Confidence, Habits (Smoking/Drugs - Cocaine & Cannabis/Nail Biting) Motivation, Phobias, Sexual Problems, Stress.Headaches, Panic Attacks.

During hypnosis will  I be aware of what is happening around me?

Fact - You are fully aware of what is going on around you, what's more I cannot make anyone do anything under Hypnosis that they would not normally do.

How many sessions will I need and how long will each session last?

Sessions are usually between one hour and 1 hour thirty minutes, with the first 20 minutes being used to get to know you and understand your problem, the Hypnotherapy session will be about 45-60 minutes, with the final 5-10 minutes to talk about the session and the way forward.
One session is usually enough. There are certain things like Weight loss that may have to be addressed with three sessions, this is because it is usually a two sided problem and an on-going process "the need to feel good" and "the need to eat less". Some phobias may also require two - three sessions.

Will it be successful?

I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said Yes, but what I can say is if you really want it to work then the chance of success is very high indeed.

I am very embarrassed about my problem and I don't want to talk to anyone about my problem directly.

This is very common and you must be aware that a one to one session involves history notes being taken, these will remain strictly confidential between myself and the client.
